BACKGROUND

A food distribution company in Rosemead, CA was in need of an efficient storage system for pallets as well as smaller food packages in their new 38,000 square foot warehouse. QMH provided 900 pallet positions of selective pallet racking.

NEEDS

  • Food storage system for pallets & packaging.
  • Simple loading and unloading.
  • Improved productivity.

CHALLENGES

1.

ORGANIZATION

Racking did not efficiently accommodate storage for a variety of different spices that come in smaller packages. Order picking spices was inefficient and needed an updated process.

2.

LOGISTICS

There was a height difference between the trucks and the level of the docks at the warehouse making it difficult to move products in and out of the warehouse.

Solutions

Maximize Storage & Accessibility

Selective racking was installed for pallet storage, designed to maximize storage and accessibility. With selective racks, any pallet in any position is readily available.

Improved Efficiency

We installed five edge of dock levelers to increase productivity and bumper blocks to prevent truck damages.
